In February 2019 I reunited with the PR and Marketing firm The Bromley Group to mount a fundraising campaign for the nonprofit organization ADAPT Community Network, an organization that provides services and advocacy for people with disabilities in New York City. My email and phone campaign raised more than $32,000 in support from companies and individuals to congratulate the honorees of the ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala in March.
Held at the elegant Cipriani 42nd Street, the ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala was hosted by Cara Buono, star of “Stranger Things,” and honored iconic TV actor and philanthropist Tony Danza of “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss?,” TV personality Tamron Hall, David Muir, anchor of “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir,” Peter Meyer, Market President NYC of TD Bank, and John and Mark Cronin, founders of John’s Crazy Socks, a sock company that employs — and empowers — people with differing abilities.
The event featured a Who’s Who of broadcast news stars with appearances by honorary gala co-chairs Tamsen Fadal and Mike Woods, Al Roker, Deborah Roberts, and David Muir’s ABC News colleague Amy Robach, who was accompanied by her husband, actor and entrepreneur Andrew Shue. A highlight of the night was an appearance by legendary soap star Susan Lucci who presented Tony Danza’s award.
